Anderlecht in the Cup Winners' Cup

 

After losing 3-0 in the first leg in Brussels against Anderlecht, Barcelona beat the Belgians by the same scoreline at Camp Nou on November 1, 1978 to force extra time, before eventually going on to win in the penalty shootout.

Hans Krankl, Juan Carlos Heredia and Rafael Zuviria scored the goals, the last with less than five minutes left on the clock, and Barca subsequently triumphed 4-1 on penalties to advance to the last eight of the Cup Winners' Cup and later lift the trophy in Basel after beating Fortuna Dusseldorf in the final.
